Noell Sutton began studying piano at the age of seven and is currently completing a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Texas A&M University – Commerce. In high school, he enrolled in the preparatory school of Ms. Connie Anderson at Cedarville University and participated in competitions and festivals administered by the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. He continued his piano studies at Cedarville University in the studio of Dr. John Mortensen and received an alternate placing in the 2010 annual Concerto Competition and was awarded the Mr. and Mrs. Roland David Polsdorfer Award in recognition for outstanding piano accomplishment. After transferring to Texas A&M University – Commerce, he was awarded multiple scholarships for excellence in music and graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Music in 2016. He received a full teaching assistantship and continued his music education with Dr. Luis Sanchez at Texas A&M University – Commerce, completing his degree in Piano Performance in May 2018. The program’s duties include instruction of applied piano lesson to music minors, teaching multiple sections of class piano, and coaching of piano accompanists. In the course of his graduate studies, he completed a Piano Pedagogy Practicum with Prof. Libby Vanatta, which provided opportunities to observe faculty members teach piano, receive faculty feedback on his own teaching, and extensive exposure to common teaching methods and repertoire.
Mr. Sutton has over ten years of experience in piano instruction teaching students of all ages and has taught in various piano academies in Texas. He is passionate about teaching piano to students and sharing the joy that comes from creating music.
