I work with students on a one-on-one basis, assessing the level and needs of the student from the first lesson. I then recommend materials (books, online resources etc) and assignments that will get them on their way to accomplishing the goals they want, whether that be proficiency in playing the piano, becoming a better songwriter or accompanist, or learning how to record and produce music.
I have taught privately for over twenty years, including 10 years at the Austin School of Music. I have studied piano since the age of five, and attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX and won many awards there. I studied for two years at New York University, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. I won Third Place in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and performed on the Mickey Mouse Club Show which aired on the Disney Channel, where I received the “Mickey Mouse Club Hall of Fame” award.
Lesson rates are $65 per hour, or $32.50 for a half hour. I can also do 45-minute lessons. Lessons are paid monthly, at the beginning lesson of each month. Lesson frequency is once a week for half hour or hour lessons, or can be every other week for hour lessons.
