Metro Music Lessons was founded by Juilliard alumnus and voice professor (UMBC) Sammy Huh. The company is committed to delivering exceptional instruction to students of all levels with the most trusted and accomplished team of music instructors in the greater D.C. metropolitan area.

et’s start with a question I asked Sammy during one of my lessons, I asked if he enjoys performing or teaching more. He responded with I have been performing for over 10 years at some point you get burnt out but the reward of seeing students improve over time is greater than any performance good ever be. Sammy’s teaching style is a comfort first approach rather than most teachers who throw techniques and theory at you immediately. He likes to gauge and range where you are at so he can build on your foundations. Without speaking about his credentials as graduate from Juilliard or other accolades, he wants to advance his students to their full abilities. His goals are to meet your goals and help you discover them. He likes to connect with his students and explore their creativity as well. The most beneficial part of Sammy’s lessons is he allows you to record them to play them back to practice throughout the week.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We offer a free trial lesson to see if the student would be a good fit with the teacher.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All our teachers have received advanced music degrees from conservatories and universities nationwide.

The Juilliard School, Catholic University of America, University of Maryland - Opera Studio, National Conservatory of Moldova, University of Dallas, etc.

We have performed at Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Washington National Opera, Basillica of the National Shrine, Virginia Opera, Delaware Opera, Central City Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Opera, Ash Lawn Opera, In-Series Opera, Opera Camerata of Washington DC, The Virginia Consort, Embassies across Washington DC, etc.
