Sammie is a great teacher. She explains everything clearly and helps me learn notes faster. I also like how I can play fun pop songs in her class. She accompanies me with a more advanced part and it is fun to jam together. I feel like I am in a rock band.

As a beginner, Sam helped me figure out hand placements and techniques, song timing, and how to read the music I was playing. She was kind and helpful as she instructed what was wrong so that I could learn faster.

Frequently asked questions

The first lesson includes an interview which is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to learn about your goals with music. This helps me customize lessons plans and to find the best method to progress.

I graduated with my BA in music in this May of 2017 from Hollins University with a concentration in piano along with a teaching certificate. I have taken courses in music theory, music history, sight-singing and ear training, ensemble training, performance techniques, piano pedagogy, and piano literature. I have also completed a student teaching practicum. While I was in college, I was the regular church accompanist of a local church called the Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren.

I charge a flat fee for lessons. You pay as you take the lessons. It is best to have weekly lessons to see progress and to keep your skills sharp.

I started teaching violin back when I was a freshman in high school back because there was a lot of demand. School children always needed some extra instruction to complement their string class at school.

After graduating in May of 2017 with my degree in piano, I opened my own studio called Piano Playing Dreams.

I have worked everyone from 7 year olds to late adults. I have taught beginners to students with prior experience.

Since I have a degree, I can teach any level and styles.

You should ask yourself, do you feel confident that this person will be able to do the work at the quality you desire.

You should find out what you are passionate about and ask your teacher to help you reach your dreams.
