About

I moved to Online/Virtual Piano Lessons during the pandemic, but I am re-opening my in-person studio on September 8, 2025. I will be teaching Beginning Adult students, and intermediate and advanced piano students from age 15 -70. I love teaching students who always had a dream of playing the piano but never got around to it. Now is the time to begin your Piano Adventure!

We will learn how to use technology to record our musical pieces, and we will not have recitals. We will gather during the holidays to play our favorite pieces for each other. No stress, just a chance to meet other students and share music.

I have a degree in Music Education and Psychology from Seattle Pacific University, and I create a personal curriculum for each student, tailored to the music you love.

Music has been my life since I was 6 years old. I was the school piano accompanist for my elementary, junior high, and high school choirs since I was in the 5th grade. I studied piano with the Dean of Music at Seattle Pacific University when I was 16 and went on to earn a four-year academic and music scholarship at SPU. I studied piano, pipe organ and harpsichord in college, and was a church organist for over 30 years. I love working with people, and together, we create wonderful experiences involving music.

    Frequently asked questions

I first ask the student to tell me about their "Piano Story".  Everyone has one, and it is so moving to me to be able to hear about the journey these prospective students have traveled to get to the point of actually making their dream come true.  It's scary to start lessons for a lot of us, but once your fear is overcome and you experience the joy of music, there is no turning back.

    Pricing is as follows:

    1)  $30 for a 30-minute lesson

    2)  $35 for a 45-minute lesson

    3)  $40 for a 60-minute lesson

I  have been teaching piano for over 30 years, and in 2014, I opened Maltby Piano Studio.

I have worked with pre-school children (ages 4 and 5), Middle School students, and primarily adults between 26-65.

Our Spring Piano Recital on May 20, 2017 was a great time of sharing our musical pieces with our friends and family.  Over 75 people attended, and we had an awards ceremony and time for everyone to get to know each other.  Our students get to know each other through our various group lessons and tours, and in the Summer, we perform at the Woodinville Farmer's Market and share our music with the shoppers.

I would encourage a student to find someone who you can talk to honestly and openly, and who will let you guide the course of your musical journey.

I want students to have a passion to learn music, and be committed to spending time each week to make success possible.  I love teaching working adults, and I am able to work around tough work schedules and life events so the student can succeed at their goals.
