My teaching approach: Develop fundamentals of music theory such as note-reading, tablature, chords, scales, and various guitar techniques. CSUB graduate with a BA in Music Education, have been teaching guitar for 17 years, taught both in public and private schools, played and recorded professionally for over 30 years. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio or the student's home Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Bakersfield-- (student's home, Nick Rail Music) Tehachapi-- (Lee's House of Music, Mountain Music) Guitar Techniques: Guidance In Equipment Selection, Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Improvisation, Performance, Vocal Accompaniment, Fingerstyle, Open tuning, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: Create a relaxing and comfortable environment to determine the student's playing level. Discuss goals and explain the advantages that the student can expect by having a guitar teacher to guide him/her on their musical journey. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Each lesson builds upon the student's existing knowledge, reinforcing and clarifying the previous concepts taught, meanwhile introducing new material. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: The ideal guitar student loves music and is passionate about learning. He/she possesses an open-mind, accepts a challenge and is willing to take risks and perhaps even make mistakes along the way. Despite all the shortcomings and obstacles, their persistence yields success.
Music has always been a huge part of my life and I feel very passionate about teaching and watching my student's development. There is a famous quote, "Find something you love, and you will never work a day in your life."
