What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with a free trial lesson where a student can experience how our classes work and the ways we teach. Even with beginners, we start playing in the first lesson; something simple, but still. Music is a language and to learn it faster you need to start "speaking" it as soon as you can.
There's always time for a conversation as well: we want to find out about the student's (or their parents') goal, music interests, and expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our teachers are professionals with degrees in music and pedagogy from American and European schools. They are also trained and experienced in teaching online.

How did you get started teaching?
It all started in 2004 with a single piano teacher - Ivan Shapovalov. Ivan's friends asked him to give piano lessons to their 4-year-old son. It was his first step in teaching, and it has helped him realize that he loves teaching piano lessons, maybe even more than playing the piano.
Within the next ten years, Ivan polished his professional skills as a teacher by researching and testing different piano programs in his piano studio. With his students, he tried teaching methods known in Europe, Asia, and America.
In 2016 Ivan Shapovalov Piano Studio was opened in Bellflower, California. In 5 years, it grew into Fantasi School of Music (Pico Rivera, California), where students of different levels and ages take educational and fun music lessons and participate in events.
