I teach both children and adults, from toddlers to gradparents, complete beginners to dedicated hobbyists and professionals. Those with a genuine interest in and curiosity of music are welcome to study with me.
For children, I know that I am not only teaching music, but also nurturing their capacities for pattern recognition, problem solving, communication, motor skills, confidence and discipline, all while giving them the lifelong and fufilling gift of musical experience and expression.
For my adult students, I focus on creating a fufilling and creativetly rewarding experience through my lessons, giving them the tools and personalized attention necessary to achieve their musical goals, whatever those goals may be.
I provide all curriculum and teaching materials for my students, personalizing each course of study to fit their needs, strengths and ambitions. I do not overbook myself and sincerely commit to the development of my students.
I received an MA in Musical Composition and MFA in Musical Performance from Mills College in Oakland, CA and have been deeply fortunate to have studied one on one with multiple master musicians and artists. I am an active artist in the local music scene and have performed my original work in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and South America.
I love music with a passion and it is a sincere privelege to bring music into the lives of my students. If you are interested in bringing music into the life of your child or into your own life, please give me a call!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with a 10-15 minute phone conversation with the partent of the student (or student themselves) to learn a little bit about them and to find out if we're a good fit. If all seems good I generally book a 45-60 minute introductory lesson.
At this lesson, parents and students will get a feel for my teaching and coaching style. The latter half of the lesson is dedicated to going over my lesson policies and packages, anwering any questions that may come up, and completing an enrollment form.
