Andrade's Music Lessons
About
My students have often told me that I helped them understand how to solve the physical problems they have had with playing and also helped understand the music they were playing more deeply. My main goal as a teacher is to give my students fluency both in their instrument and in the musical language (both in basics like scales and chords, and in specific elements of style, like blues rhythm, or South American accent patterns).
I love the exploring the depths, both emotionally and intellectually, that music possesses and communicating that richness with my students. In the process of working with my students I am always learning new things myself. What could be more enjoyable?

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With new students, I begin by assessing their playing level, discussing their goals (specific pieces or types of music they are interested in), identify areas for improvement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have more than 30 years experience teaching guitar, piano, music theory, and composition. I completed Bachelors and Masters degrees in music, and have been teaching at SJCC for the more than 15 years.
