Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
What I typically do is set up an intake appointment to see how to best meet the needs of a new customer. It is there where I discuss a lesson plan with the new customer to make certain they are receiving what they want. Then lessons are carried out on a regular scheduled basis either at the student's home or online using video conferencing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing music over 50 years
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is quoted at the time of initial contact that ranges from individual pricing to small group pricing that includes labor, materials, etc.
How did you get started teaching?
Instructing/Teaching guitar has always been a desire of mine to share what knowledge I've gained to people who have the same desire of learning, leaving a positive impact on their musical journey.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with customers ranging from 8 years old and up; from individuals, small groups to customers with special needs and home schoolers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my students who started with me is a single father in his mid thirties. He started with no knowledge of the guitar and is at the point of sight-reading and gaining in understanding and he is now at the point of correcting his own mistakes! Another student of mine started with me and she too is sight-reading and playing. She also started with no knowledge and the progress she has made is absolutely amazing!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make certain that the instructor/teacher will listen to your needs! There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to instructing/teaching the guitar as every customer learns differently and at their own pace.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The main questions that customers should be thinking about are:
Is this professional going to have a full understanding of my needs as a student and be able to meet them?
As a parent, is this professional going to have a full understanding of my child's needs and be able to meet them?
Is this professional reliable and trustworthy?
Is this instructor the right fit for me?
Is this instructor the right person for my child?
