About

Thomas has a wealth of music knowledge, and an easygoing, organized, style that makes him a terrific teacher for folks of all ages.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Thomas is a multi-instrumentalist – he specializes in guitar and ukulele, but also enjoys teaching slide guitar and charango.* Stylistically, Thomas teaches rock, blues, jazz, classical, neo-soul, south american music and more. He combines these mainstream styles with years of living in Argentina, just in case you’d like to explore the rich music of South America.

Thomas is an active composer – He has written music for Playstation, Nike and NBA ads, Oscar nominated movies, and done music editing for Netflix shows. He has also recorded guitar, charango and slide guitar for movies 'Life Itself' and upcoming argentinian film 'La Odisea de Los Giles'.

Thomas’ teaching philosophy is that the best way to learn, is when it is a fun and challenging experience at the same time. The goal is to build your skills, while learning to play the music you love, with grace and technique. He is always eager to help students expand their musical vocabulary and enjoys customizing his lessons to fit the musical interests of each student.

Thomas is fluent in both English and Spanish, and enjoys working with students of all ages.

Thomas’ musical favorites include: The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Robert Glasper, Alicia Keys, Ben Harper, Foo Fighters, Jimi Hendrix, Bach, Debussy, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Mercedes Sosa, Djavan, Gustavo Santaolalla, Shimshai, Miles Davis, Hank Mobley, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Andy Mckee, Laurence Juber, Art Blakey, John Williams, Jim Hall, Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, John Mayer.

*Charango is an amazing instrument from Argentina – you might recognize it from “Iguazu,” by Gustavo Santaolalla (used in many film and tv scores).

Im learning electric guitar with Thomas and I can tell you this: never in my life did I think I would be able to play like I do now after only 4 lessons. I have never previously played a string instrument so it was a big adjustment, but Thomas is such a great teacher, knowing how to strike the perfect balance between making you feel comfortable and pushing you to accomplish more difficult songs. I love his approach to teaching, he knows that you dont want to just play endless scales even as a beginner. You want to get to the good stuff!! By the end of my first lesson I was already playing the bassline to Someday by The Strokes. I really appreciate how he treats every question I ask (Im sure some of them are very dumb) with care and takes into account what type of music I want to play.
I HIGHLY recommend Thomas, I cannot go anywhere else!

My level of play - strumming while watching TV. I thought we were going to go through music theory, however we just dived in. So from strumming to the end of my lessons - I was able to play 3-4 songs - which to me was priceless.
Thomas was a great teacher, and I was awe-struck to see that he could listen to a song, and he already knew roughly how the chords/melody went. I really enjoyed the lessons. A great experience for sure; an experience I would love to continue hopefully in the near future.

I dont know why it took me forever to take guitar lessons but I was so glad that I finally did and that Thomas was my teacher. Talk about real progress...I couldnt believe that I was playing cords to my favorite bands in just a couple of lessons. Thomas made the lessons really fun and stress free. I looked forward to practicing at home and the weekly class. I would definitely go back to Thomas when I have more time for myself.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience so far. I have some experience playing instruments, but really wanted to learn how to play guitar. Thomas is awesome!! First of all, he undoubtedly has a wealth of music knowledge. And despite his huge musical vocabulary, he has been really good at walking me through the basics. He is very calm and organized. And though Im still just getting started, he really pushes me to challenge myself, while having fun in the process.
Thomas is also super amenable to teaching you songs and musical styles that you like. He can literally just put on any song you have in mind and figure out how to play it to fit your skill level. But he can also suggest styles you didnt even know you would like - like classical guitar songs or film score pieces.
