About
My name is Timur Duel, I am a classically trained guitarist and teacher with 20 years of experience teaching music. I attended children's music school in former Soviet Union and later continued my studies at Tel Aviv Music Academy in Israel for B.Mus I have been living and teaching in Orange County, California since 2003. You can listen to my music samples and read more about my lessons by visiting my website http://www.timurduel.com Please also watch these videos of my students performing at various occasions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etFGua7lUnw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxI5D3xSCqQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkuWbVrHZcM&feature=mh_lolz&list=HL1315357261 . I prepare my students of school age for music examinations twice a year, they also have a chance to perform in recitals 1-2 times a year. Approximately half of my students are adults-working professionals and seniors, it's never too late,by the way. Our lessons would also include music theory (optional though), so you will have better understanding of music that you play, we'll learn chords, of course, I always encourage my students to compose and improvise, it develops your creativity.
I enjoy interacting with new people of various backgrounds and help them to learn guitar. Being in a music environment daily is not a bad thing either :)

Frequently asked questions
How did you get started teaching?
First, I was a substitute for my teacher at music school in my hometown in former USSR.
Later I found my own students and was teaching them through community centers.
Later when I lived in Israel and studied for my music degree, I taught privately, was a substitute for my professor and also taught at local music school as well as elementaty school.
What types of students have you worked with?
I teach children and adults. My youngest was 6 yo and I teach all school ages as well as college students.
Another group of my students is working adults, I had experience with various professionals including executives and a famous neurologist.
I also teach seniors, it might require an extra patience sometimes, but they don't have school or work to distract them , so that's a 'plus'
