Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before even beginning to work with a student I will assess what the student's needs and wants are via speaking with their parent's or them. I then will take into account their age and technique level. During the first class I will teach basic vocabulary if they are beginners. Work on stretches and strengthening and general body awareness excersies. Depending on the class I will either use the barre here or center floor. I would progress normally here on out.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A in Dance that focused on modern technique and choreography.
I have a 200 hr yoga teaching certification through yogarenew.
A 30hr children's yoga certification and 20 hr mindfulness certification.
I am RedCross WSI certfied- I've worked with many ages of students.
How did you get started teaching?
It all began as a water safety instructor. I found a passion for working with my students in something that I absolutely love and believe is a vital skill to have. I went onto teaching water aerobics. I decided to go to college for dance where I took courses on pedagogy and composition. I had a blast. I feel like a natural born educator.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with beginner students through advanced starting around age 3 or 4. I also work with teenagers and adults.
