I have been practicing yoga since 1997, starting for low back pain after a car accident and continuing for stress relief from increasing pressure at work. I completed my 200 hour Hatha based training in December 2012 at Asana Studio under the guidance of five amazing yogis – Karen Boeser, Lauren Duker, Santosh, Darrin Zeer and Julia Kalish. I have been teaching ever since and aspire to create a safe and comfortable place to begin or deepen your yoga practice. Class focus will include breath work, or pranyama, and tying the breath to movement through a balance of flowing between poses and holding poses. I always encourage students to connect ...

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

Reviews for Commerce City yoga studios

Recent success stories from people in the Commerce City area.
Alyse R.
I had such a wonderful experience at this class! The atmosphere was welcoming, fun, and engaging from the moment I walked in. It was clear how much thought, passion, and expertise Carissa put into creating the experience. Everything was explained in a way that felt approachable, whether you're completely new like me or already have some knowledge. What stood out most was how comfortable and inclusive the environment felt. You can tell the instructor, Carissa, genuinely cares about helping people learn, connect, and enjoy themselves! I left feeling like I learned something new while also having a great time. If you're looking for a unique experience that's equal parts educational, interactive, and enjoyable, I highly recommend checking out a class. I can't wait to attend another one!
