My teaching approach:

31yrs playing experience. I’ll help w/technique, improve speed, finger strength/dexterity, tips, tricks, theory, shredding, other aspects of learning/playing. I teach chords,scales (major/minor, Ionian, Aeolian, Lydian, mixolydian, augmented, diminished, locrian, harmonic minor/melodic minor, blues scale, dorian, phrygian, aeolian dominant, phrygian dominant, gypsy scale),arpeggios, understanding extensions, triads,inversions,intervals. Teaching philosophy partly based on connecting w/ & affecting audience. To achieve I emphasize tone, expression, stage presence, technical facility, repertoire

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I ask a few questions regarding styles interested in, experience, theory knowledge, etc. The we go thru a few chord progressions, scales, exercises and see where we are at regarding chord transition, fluidity, strumming ability, fretting agility, etc. This a is generally the foundation set up for proceeding forward. With more experienced students, I also check out is their improv ability w/ scales using various rhythms to see where we are at, etc

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

The best way to at least get an idea of my teaching style would really be to try out the first lesson/intro packet which is free/no obligation. In general there's also a review/access process for each of the previous week’s lesson to go over questions, etc. I’ll assist w/ basics of singing while playing (note: I'm not a vocalist or vocal teacher). I also teach live via webcam - Skype, Windows MSN, etc. *Group lessons available

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

My ideal student would be someone with strong desire, some ability (or a willingness to learn), a lot of motivation, patience, and time to practice. Also someone who's interested in the included styles. ALL ages/ALL levels of experience welcome (Beginners Encouraged). I can assist you on the purchase of a guitar if you don't already have one. I will do my best to help you reach your goals on the guitar, no matter what they are
