About

Mari Sullivan is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor based in Seattle. She has taught yoga for over seven years and has experienced first-hand the healing and life-changing effects of regular yoga practice. Her teaching focuses on proper alignment and emphasizes the importance of both building strength as well as the ability to relax.

She is an excellent guide for begginer students as her teacher style is practical, clear, and positive. She has experience working with a wide variety of injuries and conditions from anxiety and depression to knee and shoulder injuries. Through her own practice, she has kept her own numerous auto-immune issues at bay (fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue).

Mari also specializes in meditation and mindfulness. She lead the meditation portion of various teacher trainings while living in Los Angeles and teaches regular meditation workshops and classes. Mari also assisted in the development of the Yoga Daya 200 and 300-hour Teacher Training Programs.

I absolutely love teaching beginners and helping students overcome the fear, doubts, and barriers to starting a yoga practice. Seeing the progress of my students as they build strength and flexibility, recover from injuries, develop greater confidence in themselves, and form a deeper connection between their body, mind, and spirit is the most gratifying work I could ask for.

Mari is such a wonderful teacher. She is so patient and really takes the time and care needed to get me into each pose safely. I have a lot of neck and shoulder fatigue from repetitive motion at work and I always feel so much better after I see Mari. She is so aware of any muscle tension that I have and really tailors the session towards working out those specific tensions. I have done private and group sessions with Mari and I always feel like my needs are met. Her experience as a teacher is clear. I always feel so centered and rejuvenated after my sessions with Mari. I highly recommend her!

Although Ive been practicing yoga for many years, I was both curious and nervous to take my very first Iyengar class not too long ago.
Mari made that experience better than I could have ever imagined. With an impressive knowledge and understanding of the asanas, her demonstrations and clear explanations of the poses will help yogis of any level to achieve proper posture and alignment. Her thoughtful sequences, attention to each student, and mindful use of props allows everyone to practice as a whole while also fulfilling their own individual needs and intentions.
And even with all of the knowledge and experience Mari has, one of the things I enjoy most is that her classes are always filled with smiles (from her and the students) which makes it that much easier to enjoy and appreciate the practice.

I loved Maris classes, always looked forward to what she had in store for us each time. Super knowledgeable and incredibly sweet too. Sad that she has now relocated and will no longer be able to take her class. If you have a chance, take her class!!!

I with my 2 years experience in Iyengar Yoga have great classes with Mari. And so as my friends, who are just stared at yoga.
Mari is very nice as a person and great experienced as a teacher. She is mindful and helpful to students. Always detailed in explanations, shows all asanas herself and attentive to students asanas. Im so grateful I can have classes with such a great teacher.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, it is important to first understand the student's goals, where they are currently, and where they want to be.  At our first meeting, we will discuss these goals, any injuries and illnesses, current lifestyle (work, sleep, diet), and any previous experience with yoga. The first lesson will take the student through some basic yoga postures to assess where he/she is in their physical practice.

I work with a broad range of students. I love to work with Beginner's and help remove any fears or insecurities about practicing yoga. I can provide a fun and challenging practice for students that want push themselves and work on strength.  I also have worked with older students who need a more tailored and compassionate practice as well as those with injuries, stress disorders, and depression.
