Mark Linford, M.M. teaches all fretted stringed instruments covering all styles, all levels and ages 14 and up. This includes all types of Guitars (acoustic, electric, classical), Bass, Mandolin, Ukulele and Banjo. Mark Linford is an exceptionally talented guitarist/singer/songwriter. He earned his bachelor's degree as a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and also holds a Master's Degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Redlands School of Music. Mark as well holds other certificates and awards.
Mr. Linford has played professionally for over 40 years as well as being a valued instructor at music institutions and colleges. He is extremely versatile and competent in all styles of music including Jazz, Latin, Classical, Blues, Pop, Country, Alternative, Metal and all styles of Rock, as well as other less widespread styles. This versatility lends to Mark's unique style and abilities.
Mark Linford has acquired an enormous amount of experience from years of performing virtually all styles of music live and in the studio. Mark Linford's extraordinary skills have proven crucial in developing his masterfully unique and effective teaching approach and utilizing applied music theory. The goal is to teach only what can be used in actual playing and not waste time with concepts that are not applicable, such as what is taught in universities.
Mark strives to combine his vast experience and talent along with traditional teachings and techniques in order to achieve the results that the student's goals and interests require. All while striving to keep the student’s musical journey fun as well as educational. Focusing on 'real-life' applied practices rather than traditional time-wasting non-applicable approaches is an integral part of Mark's approach and that of his highly regarded "Linford Guitar School". Mark continues to teach from beginners to advanced and professional students while embracing the opportunity to present materials with a clear understanding without the confusion that often accompanies musical instruction.
