We employ only the best instructors with real-life experience along with degrees in the areas they teach. We specialize in teaching our students the skills, confidence, and motivation they need to not only to learn a new skill or improve their talent but to also appreciate the process while having fun.
Laity has been providing after school art enrichment programs and services for over 30 years. We do this because we have a love and passion for the arts. 85% of the teachers we hire have a degree in the area that they teach and they love what they do. The rest are professional artists who are regularly paid for their artistry. The joy we find is in passing on what we have learned to the children and young adults we serve.
Further, we enjoy helping them reach their goals as they carefully master their craft.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students are typically evaluated on their level of understanding of basic concepts in the arts which helps us determine where to begin teaching. If a student already has a foundational knowledge of music we use that and their former levels to place them in the best teaching environment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our instructors have professional experience (paid for their craft) BFA, MFA or higher degrees which gives them the ability to teach within their area of expertise. Further our teacher are professionals who regulary use their talent to earn a living so they maintain a constant pulse on the industry and bring new and exciting ways to teach.

Acting, Art, and Animation lessons are $75 a month.
All music lessons are $110 a month. Tuition is paid monthly.
How did you get started teaching?
The founders of Laity Arts are both professional educators from both the public and private sector. The husband and wife team started teaching violin and piano lessons over 30 years ago. This grew into what is known today as the Laity Institute of the Arts.
What types of students have you worked with?
Laity Arts has worked with beginners to seasoned professionals looking to simply learn a new craft or tighten their technique or chops. We teach from age 7 and up.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Each year our institute participates in Music in our Schools Monh where music is celebrated nationwide by music educators. For the last 5 years we have been able to bring in top level musicians to perform with our children and for their parents.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Patience. Look for teachers and or instructors who understand the nature of the arts. They understand that these skills are obtained over time with care, committment and patience. Learning to acquire an artistic gift should be enjoyable, fun and challenging. But there should not be any undo pressure that removes the joy of learning.
