About
With over thirty-five years of experience in performing, composing, recording, and teaching, I have garnered a reputation as one of the top musical professionals in the Bay Area. As a teacher I try to bring out each student's passion for music while instilling the fundamentals of sound technique that will enable them to grow not only as a player and/or singer, but to deepen their appreciation of music and inspire creativity and to self expression.
I have been on staff at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto for over thirty years, and have taught thousands of students both privately and in group classes over that period.
As a performer and recording artist, I have four recordings s a solo artist and band leader, and frequently perform with my Brazilian jazz group Novo Tempo. I have performed at countless venues in the Bay Area and up and down the West Coast, including the San Jose Jazz Festival, Yoshi's Nightclub in Oakland, CA, Mountain View CA Center For Performing Arts, Redwood City CA Salsa Festival, Winter Music Festival, Florence OR, The Triple Door, Seattle WA, The Jazz Cellar, Vancouver B.C., Catalina's Jazz Nightclub, Los Angeles CA, Dizzy's, San Diego, and more.
What really excites me about teaching is watching the growth of a student over a period of time. Giving affirmation, encouragement, and inspiration to a student is something every teacher should want to aspire to.
