About this pro

Hi, I'm Robbie - thanks for checking out Guitar Guru Lessons!

I've been teaching professionally for 15+ years and have extensive experience working with all ages and musical styles. I teach locally in Southern California and also online to anywhere in the U.S.

My teaching style is very practical and I do my best to customize our lessons to fit your specific goals, style preference, and level of play. Each lesson is unique to the individual - some students simply want to learn how to play their favorite songs, while others prefer working on technique, improvisation, or music theory. Regardless of your age or level of experience, our lessons will be progressive and engaging.

IF INTERESTED IN LESSONS, PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND AN APPROPRIATE TIME TO CALL YOU AND I WILL REACH YOU AT YOUR CONVENIENCE TO DISCUSS YOUR MUSICAL GOALS AND POSSIBLE LESSON TIMES. Serious inquires only please.

THANK YOU for your time and interest - I really appreciate it! Best,

Robbie 🎸🙏

Rob's the man! I've been taking lessons with him for seven years now and I've learned more from him than I ever could have on my own. Rob has an extensive knowledge of different kinds of music and music theory. And if that's not enough, he also just happens to be one of the nicest dudes on the planet! I can say without a shadow of a doubt that he is by far the best teacher in this area, if not LA. You'd be doing your self a massive favor by taking lessons with him.

Rob is great! My daughter Olivia has been taking lessons for over a year and really enjoys learning her favorite songs plus Rob has shown her some cool stuff that I don't think she would have learned on her own. Highly recommended. Thanks Rob!

Rob is an amazing guitar teacher. He has extensive knowledge and skills in different genres of music form pop, to rock, to blues, to jazz, and I'm sure other genres as well. Jazz and music theory are where he really shines though. I have been taking lessons from him for over 8 years now and have been focusing on jazz for the last 4 or so. It's rare that I leave each lesson not knowing something that I hadn't known when I walked in. Choosing to take guitar lessons with Rob was one of the best decisions I've made. I'd highly recommend taking lessons with Rob to anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of guitar and music in general.

I'm such a beginner and he was so patient with me! I felt completely comfortable! I will continue my lessons with him.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

M.F.A. Jazz Guitar Performance - California Institute of the Arts.

B.M. Jazz Studies - San Diego State University.

In addition to my personal teaching business, I'm also a faculty member at West Coast Music Academy, in Santa Clarita, CA.

How did you get started teaching?

I began teaching professionally while earning my B.M. from San Diego State University. I continued teaching during my time at California Institute of the Arts and I've been making a living as a music instructor ever since (15+ years).

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages, all levels, all styles.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I love creating music in small group jazz settings and also working with singers/rappers/producers/beat-makers in the studio. Aside from teaching, those are the two processes I’m involved in the most these days.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find the best fit for your situation. Ask about recommendations from people in your community with experience giving or receiving lessons from professional teachers.
