About this pro

Gladiators Gym is located in Redwood City.  You will be amazed to find an 'old school' facility that is located in a spaciously converted warehouse turned boxing gym.  We offer contact and non-contact boxing skills as well as strength & cardio conditioning classes for both youths and adults.

Training for professional and amateur level competition is also provided at Gladiators Gym by Antonio Renteria member coach of USA Boxing.  Many of our gym members have competed at local, regional and national USA Boxing sanctioned events throughout the year, as well as the San Francisco Golden Gloves.

Our goal is to provide the community, youth and adults alike, a quality program to better their overall person.  Aside from physical conditioning, we emphasize the importance of discipline, respect, responsibility, accountability, helping and being a positive role model in our community.

I enjoy seeing people become more confident in themselves. For fighters and fitness boxers, it's rewarding to see people learn new skills.

Tony and Berto are excellent coaches, they've helped me develop new skills in the sweet science and elevate my fitness to new levels. Definitely recommend booking some lessons with them.

Awesome local boxing gym to work out at! Shoutout to the amazing coaches there, Tony R. and Berto B. for coaching me and teaching me so much about boxing. I have learned a lot from them and enjoyed my experience there.

Tony and Berto are both amazing coaches. I have been a fighter with the gym for a few years now, and I have improved an incredible amount. My boxing versus before is almost unrecognizable. They are both incredibly patient with people of all levels, and they are great at explaining and breaking down footwork, punches, etc. Would highly recommend this gym and these trainers to anyone looking to get more fit and / or learn a new skill.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

With new students, we first understand what their fitness level is and what their experience with combat sports and boxing is. If we are starting from 0, we begin with the boxing stance. Then after we get the stance and basic footwork down, we will start teaching straight punches (the jab, cross). We then move into other punches, eventually building up to combinations, defense, offense, and strategy.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been a boxing trainer for more than 15 years. I have trained people from all walks of life and all fitness levels, from amateur fighters to professional. I have fighters who have won National Championships, Golden Gloves in CA, and professional bouts. I am also a Bronze Certified Coach with USA Boxing.
