About

Hi there!

My name is Samuel. I've been playing guitar for fifty years and teaching for over twenty years. I suggest starting with acoustic guitar as that allows an easier transition to electric guitar rather than the reverse, and also provides more flexibility for playing your instrument.

Although I specialize in gently encouraging lessons for beginners to facilitate the fun part, learning to play songs, l also work with more experienced players to explore new horizons.

While my repertoire is primarily the folk, folk-rock, protest, and classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s, l am committed to adapt my style to each individual and teach what interests my students.

I charge $50 per hour and $35 per half hour at my home and $65/$50 if l travel to you. I also offer online lessons.

In any case, l strongly recommend weekly hour long lessons so you can maximize progress while building on one lesson to the next.

Please feel free to contact me via text first at 657/480-6211 with any questions you may have. I’m excited to help you play songs that inspire YOU!

Peace and blessings,

Samuel

    Frequently asked questions

I am personable and ask the student what qualities they desire in a teacher.  I am professional and utilize gentle accountability in my process and am quite supportiver and encouraging as well as break down the process into manageable pieces so the student can achieve the success of playing their first and/or next song as soon as possible

I first taught guitar over thirty years ago to first time learners in a summer camp environment and have worked with students in various styles and levels of experience.

For in home lessons, I charge $65/hour and for students traveling to me, I charge $50/hour

As I started learning and asking others for tips, others began to ask me and I found that my gentle and supportive style was highly successful.

Primarily beginners and am flexible and experienced enough to adapt to most effectively meet my students’ needs.
It is pure joy to see a complete beginner progress to playing their first song, most commonly by the end of their first lesson! I cannot recount how frequently this occurs with my students. 😀
Most importantly, l’d strongly recommend finding someone with whom you can develop a open, communicative, friendly working relationship that can explore different modes and adapt as the learning process continues.
What they hope to accomplish. Are they looking to play a few chords primarily to accompany their voice or do they want to make it their profession? How clear and realistic are their goals? How committed are they to ongoing lessons and REGULAR practice? Are they willing to establish and work in a collaborative style or are their ideas more firmly entrenched? These are some of the considerations l suggest to maximize the effectiveness of their lessons.
