About
My teaching approach:
I have been playing for over 50 years, teaching for 27 years. I use a teaching program tailored to each students needs and ability. I let you choose the songs and style you're into, and show you the best and quickest way to get there. I encourage creativity and can show you how to reach your goals. There's no limit on direction or material. I work for you. I teach you what you are interested in.
My influences are:
Everyone! Scotty Moore, Chet Atkins, Jimi Hendrix, Grant Green, Jeff Beck, B.B King, Page, Clapton, John Mayer, and a zillion others. Everyday I hear somebody new to me and are added to my list. Who knows, you might be one of them. I am inspired and totally blown away by anyone who plays with fire and brings something new to the world.

For beginners and intermediate students, we start with an assessment of physical and musical skills and knowledge. The C major scale and 4 chords will be introduced. The student will bring a list of their 10 favorites songs, we will select 1 or 2 and start learning them. Then and there!
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
Lessons cover everything from mechanical skills to theory. If it applies to music and your interests, then I'm ready to use whatever means or approach necessary. When you are able to physically play, we start right in with creative and practical ways to achieve your goal.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
The best students are eager, willing and patient. They come in ready to have fun and learn at the same time. The more the student plays, the better they get and the more fun they have. They call it "playing music" for a good reason. The "serious student" will have an open heart and mind. And a big smile!
