About
Hi, My name is Matt Hartle. I am a music teacher with about 30 current students, ranging in age from 5 to 85. I have a BA in music from the University of North Texas. As a professional musician, I play all over the west coast in bands such as Shady Groove, Spirit of '76, The China Cats, Painted Mandolin, and Big Stone Soup.
I teach guitar and piano in a way that suits your individual learning style. I have found that everyone responds best to different types of methods of understanding. We will learn to undertake how music actually works, and learn some of your favorite songs along the way. I have my own teach material that I have written to help you see the relationship between chords and melodies, and how they fit together.
While I love to teach advanced students, my specialty is connecting with children. I am very good at reading their energy, and connecting them to music in a way that they can understand. I have had so many parents tell me that they quit their music lessons because they hated their piano teacher, and thus they never learned music. My goal is to make music fun, and have the children look forward to their music time.
