About
I teach aspiring guitar players how to master their favorite tunes. And/or I show them great tunes that thrill a room. I get my musicians ready to perform in front of people, ready to serenade a dear friend, ready to back up another singer, ready to play with other musicians. I teach singing as well, the art of singing while playing the guitar. I teach killer riffs, fills & solos.
I have an LA Music Center Teaching Artist's certificate, 2010. I have been recognized by the City of LA for teaching exgang kids blues writing and performing workshops.
I have fronted several bands that have performed in clubs and venues in San Francisco, Boston, NYC and LA.
I love giving people the technique to make guitar playing serious medicine for the soul. It cures so many ailments. It also builds confidence, discipline and enhanced self-esteem. I like showing my students keen to write their own material how to proceed in that direction.
In a word:Guitar Playing is a Secret Power.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with basic 2 and 3-chord tunes for beginners. For intermediate players I get them playing their favorite tunes for which I draw up precise musical charts, and/or I prescribe the learning of thrilling Beatles, Stones, Bowie, Hendrix, Dylan or Radiohead tunes, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied privately with NYC-based guitar instructors. My main guitar teacher mentor has a BFA in guitar from the Berklee School of Music in Boston.
