About
DAN UBICK has been inspiring kids and adults alike with his fun, tailor-made and song-based music lessons since 2004. Dan uses everything from Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars to Led Zeppelin and The Beatles as musical springboards to learning music theory and broadening musical knowledge.
Dan’s credits as a musician include Will.I.Am, Macy Gray, Colbie Caillat, Lily Allen, Mos Def, De La Soul, Aloe Blacc, Jurassic 5, Hollie Cook, Myron & E and The Lions just to name a few. His music has been used in television, film and gaming.
Teaching music lets me pass on my love of music and the happiness and feelings of accomplishment and self worth it can bring. I love seeing the joy in students eyes when, after practicing for a stretch, they can hear themselves playing their favorite song.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My priority with new lessons is a.) findingd out what music inspires them and then writing out chord charts, tab or notation for said music and then b.) starting to build the foundations they'll need to play their favorite songs (chords, scales, techniques, etc.) with them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While I have taken many private lessons through the years from people like Tommy Tedesco (RIP), Patrick Hildebrand Sr and Ted Greene I never went to school for music. My training has been learning from the thousands of records I obsessively collect and from playing in bands and recording records for the last 25 years which has taken me everywhere from Japan and Europe to all over the U.S. and Canada including the main stages at Coachella, SXSW, Montreaux Jazz Festival and Bumbershoot.
