What is your typical process for working with a new student?
for Piano: student playd prepared material and then, we work issues around mastering the material. New concepts are then introduced and taught, Exercised and worked towards mastery. For students 15 and under I enjoy using methods books.
for voice students: technique is worked for 40 minutes, repertoire for 20 minutes with the goal of applying technique to The repertoire.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Masters degree in piano, bachelors degree in piano. 25 years of pit orchestra conducting. 25 years of vocal coaching and voice teaching. I also hold two union affiliations And have taught at University, junior college and high school.

$70 an hour, $46.60 for a 40 minute lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I started coaching for a voice teacher and prepping her students for their lessons. I began to sit in on their lessons, and then I was eventually asked to teach their lessons. I also was a graduate assistant in piano and had to teach instrumental majors in a class situation how to play scales, Read music, and prepare for their skills test.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all kinds of students. Ranging in ages from 5 to 65. Students who are amateurs and want to enjoy music making and career professionals. Several of my students in both voice and piano have gone on to earn degrees in music, singing on Broadway, Even travel professionally with bands.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I produced a show where I played piano about the life of LIBERACE.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't use the ideas of good and bad as judgments or even how you sound as a qualifier. For instance, "I don't like the way I sound". Be Open in the process to what can emerge.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my goals studying music? Why do i want to sing? What would i like to express through the medium of music? Do I understand what it means to create art?
