About

I have over 15 years experience remote teaching experience having adopted online teaching since 2006. I have students all over the world and I enjoy teaching in this format.

My teaching approach: I teach all aspects of guitar playing: technique, theory, performance and creativity. The lessons are tailored to the goals of each student at the same time address the basic core of guitar technique like correct positioning and finger mechanics, ear training and musicality. I keep track of every students' progress through lesson logs that I update at every lesson. Each student is given clear directives that they need to work on for the time in between lessons. My students are encouraged to perform, either live in front of an audience or through the video recitals hosted on my YouTube Channel My influences are: Electric: Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, SRV, Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, Richie Kotzen Classical: Andres Segovia, Narciso Yepes, Pepe Romero, Paul Galbraith, Leon Fleisher, Pablo Casals Flamenco: Paco De lucia, Juan Martin, Juan Serrano, Sabicas Acoustic: Tommy Emmanuel, Michael Hedges My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Arcadia, Azusa, Glendora, Monrovia Guitar Techniques: Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Performance Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I first ask whether he's left or right handed. If he has some playing experience, I may ask him to play something so I can see how he holds the guitar and how he holds his hands. I put the guitar and the hands in the correct position if needed. I then assign left and right hand exercises that they need to do everyday at the start of their guitar practice. For more advanced students, I ask them what their goals are and what they need help with. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I have the student tune and warm up for 5 minutes, then we go over the directives he practiced for the week, corrections/clarifications are given if needed. Once I'm certain the student has a good grasp of the previous lesson, we move on to the next topic. The lesson ends with me giving the student the new set of directives he needs to work on until the next lesson. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Someone who has a passion for the guitar and music, has the dedication to practice and follow the directives assigned to him and the drive to discover musical things on his own outside of our lesson time.

    Frequently asked questions

For the first lesson, we spend 10-15 mins going over connection settings to make sure the lesson proper isn't hindered by technical issues. Then I interview the student to learn more about his/her goals and what they expect to get out of the time we spend together.
