About this pro

I'm a local CERTIFIED TEACHER here in Colorado and taught in the public schools for 11 years.

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and drums for over 25 years. Currently, I have about 35 guitar and drum students in the Denver area. My lessons are driven by 3 simple goals for each student:

Learn Songs You Want to Play - Simplify Lessons to Your Skill Level - Make Learning Music Fun

PRICES

$30 for 30 Minutes

$40 for 45 Minutes

$50 for 1 Hour

$25-$30 for Group Lessons

*Travel or Studio Fees May Apply

I also prioritize Jam Bands and Group Lessons because research shows that learning music in a group is very beneficial.

Jam Bands are where students have an opportunity to learn a song with other guitar and drum students.

Group Lessons are an ongoing opportunity to learn songs and theory with 4-5 other students. In these settings, students learn the value and skill of playing with other musicians and have lots of fun doing it.

I am also a LIVE MUSIC PERFORMER and often have my students play with me at local restaurants and coffee shops within a few months if they would like to.

Seeing improvement from my students and having them play songs they choose is what I enjoy most about teaching music.

Kevin has been a really great teacher for our son. He is consistent and not only teachers him the cords but also how to read music so he can play anything. He lets him pick the songs they learn and makes things fun.

  • Cory Stansbury

Kevin provided guitar lessons for my daughter and myself, and drum lessons for my son. He was able to teach songs that each of us enjoyed playing. Maybe one of the coolest things is that Kevin created opportunities for his students to play as a group and in front of real audiences.

My daughter has taken guitar and drum lessons from Kevin for the past two years, He gives her lots of amazing opportunities to play with other people and perform. Kevin keeps the lessons fun and challenging. He is a fantastic teacher!

Kevin really customizes the lessons for each specific student, finds their strengths and passion for the kind of music they like and the learning process goes much faster. My son enjoyed many years with Kevin and enjoyed practicing his guitar all the time. Another important part of the process was the opportunity to practice and perform in front of people in venues that were safe and fun. Kevin is always thinking of his students and relates well in everything he teaches or communicates to make sure they always understand the concept before ending his lesson. He is also very detailed and thorough as he fills out a lesson/practice sheet that covers many exercises that help sharpen the students skills always using music that appeals to the students interests. I was and still am impressed with the way my son plays guitar and am very thankful we found Kevin and Strum2TheBeat!

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching in the public schools right out of college after I completed my degree in Elementary Education in 2003. In 2015, I decided to combine my love of teaching and my love of music and began teaching private music lessons.

What types of students have you worked with?

I work with beginner and intermediate students and currently am working with students from ages 6-77. Learning an instrument is fun at any age!

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I recently had several of my students play with me at a local gig. They enjoyed it and even got to earn their own tips and invite their friends and family to their own paying gig!  How fun!!!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Definitley find a teacher whose teaching style you enjoy and whose location works for you. They should help you learn songs that YOU want to play.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are my goals with guitar or drums?

Do I want to enjoy music more in my life?
