About this pro

I'm a local CERTIFIED TEACHER here in Colorado and taught in the public schools for 11 years. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and drums for over 25 years. Currently, I have about 35 guitar and drum students in the Denver area. My lessons are driven by 3 simple goals for each student:

Learn Songs You Want to Play - Simplify Lessons to Your Skill Level - Make Learning Music Fun

PRICES

$25 for 30 Minutes - $35 for 45 Minutes - $45 for 1 Hour - $25-$30 for Group Lessons

*Travel or Studio Fees May Apply

Though individual lessons offer a great opportunity for growth and learning, especially for students that are beginners, I also prioritize Jam Bands and Group Lessons because research shows that learning music in a group is very beneficial. Jam Bands are a 90 minute session, generally on a Saturday, where students have an opportunity to learn a song with other guitar and drum students and play together as a band. Group Lessons are an ongoing opportunity to learn songs and theory with 3-4 other students. In these settings, students learn the value and skill of playing with other musicians and have lots of fun doing it.

I am also a LIVE MUSIC PERFORMER and often have my students play with me at local restaurants and coffee shops within a few months if they would like to.

Kevin is a great teacher. I tell him a song I am interested in and he prints out the lyrics and notes. When he sees problems, he gives me pointers and illustrated drills to practice at home. Having never played a note before, I already have a few that I have mastered.

I really like Kevin's upbeat (pardon the pun) nature. He's always positive and that's what it takes for a student to continue to enjoy learning. I've had a very good experience with Kevin and his price is right. Kevin TRULY teaches the joy of making music.

Kevin has been instructing my 11 yo son in private and group lessons for the past year. Initially my son was reluctant to learn and instrument but Kevin has been able to make it fun by playing the music he enjoys. My son practices on his own, without me having to nag, a true testament to how much he enjoys guitar with Kevin. Administratively, Kevin is organized and straightforward. We feel very lucky to have found Kevin - he has enriched our son's life.

After stuggling trying to do "my own thing" online from YouTube videos, etc. to learn guitar for a year or two I have done online guitar lessons with Kevin for ~2 years. Kevin is great. He teaches what you want, when you want and made/kept it fun. If he can teach me, he can teach anyone! Great patience, great pace and always music I was interested in. The fact I can play anything still amazes me. I highly recommend!

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching in the public schools right out of college after I completed my degree in Elementary Education in 2003. In 2015, I decided to combine my love of teaching and my love of music and began teaching private music lessons.

What types of students have you worked with?

I work with beginner and intermediate students and currently am working with students from ages 6-77. Learning an instrument is fun at any age!

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I recently had several of my students play with me at a local gig. They enjoyed it and even got to earn their own tips and invite their friends and family to their own paying gig!  How fun!!!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Definitley find a teacher whose teaching style you enjoy and whose location works for you. They should help you learn songs that YOU want to play.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are my goals with guitar or drums?

Do I want to enjoy music more in my life?

Am I willing to commit to at least 1-2 months of lessons?
