Frequently asked questions

Firest, we discuss the student's background, ability, experience level and goals. Next, we create a custom program with a step by step approach to reaching those goals. We are sure to give the new student a clear understanding and overview of what that custom program will look like in advance, so they look forward to each lesson, and enjoy the process!

We pre screen all our instructors for formal education with music, and experience teaching both private and group lessons. Our instructors also pass a background check on Amazon.com. This takes the guesswork out of who to hire for our customers.

Our lessons are sold in 4 packs. The pricing is as follows:

1. $35 per 1/2 hour=$140 per 4 pack

2. $50 per 45 mins= $200 per 4 pack

3. $60 per hour= $240 per 4 pack

We used to offer a la caret lessons for $5 more, but there is really no point in taking one music lesson. We offer 1st lesson FREE using coupon code 1stfree at checkout=%25 OFF any 4 pack, with a $ back guarantee, if they dont like the 1st lesson.

Im the business owner and I started teaching 22 years ago. Our instructors all have a unique history but there are common themes. They all studied music formally, they all perform as well as teach, and they all have a passion for helping others!

Ages 6 and up, all styles, all instruments, all levels.

We held our annual recital at Boulder Creek Festival, and the kids really enjoyed it!

Be careful of the mistake of shopping by price. There are many "fly by night" newbie instructors who teach at rates that are less than "the going rate". Someone might sound like a decent player, but it doesnt mean they have a system to teach! I have had students tell me they learned more with me in one lesson than the past year they spent with their "old instructor" who didnt have a system. All teachers at My Local Music Lessons have a structured system, to help students reach goals in step by step manner.

Its helpful to be honest about your ability, not making it any more or less than the truth. Next, its helpful to have some basic ideas of your goals, and favorite songs and styles. Your teacher should know how to create a custom program to help you reach your goals and play your favorite songs and styles. You dont need to know how to do that part, that is your teacher's job!
