FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We will teach any new student how to read music, understand music theory and be able play at the individual pace as needed. Our teachers are trained to recognize the needs of each student and how much each one can be pushed while still enjoying what they are doing.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our teachers MUST go through our teacher training program before ever being alowed to teach in any of our locations. No matter how many degrees they may have. I over see all lessons and make sure each and every person gets the most of our services.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

We do not charge for each individual lesson. We charge a a very affordable monthly membership fee ($120 per month) that secures your time slot on a monthly basis. You may send whomever you like to your lesson time. Another advantage of owning your own time-slot means that there will be a 5th lesson in the month about every 3rd month that you pay nothing extra for.

How did you get started teaching?

The Piano Studio for kids was established 1991 and has been thriving since then with two locations. Greenlawn NY and Smithtown NY.

What types of students have you worked with?

We work with students of all ages from 5 through adult

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would recommend that any teacher you hire teaches all three nyssma requirements. If you are unfamiliar wih these they are, scales, performance and sight reading. Anyone not teaching these things is doing your student an injustice.
