Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide is the product of Greg and his husband Juan Carlos’s experience traveling around the world studying, practicing, and teaching yoga and finally settling down to share yoga within a community that has roots. We took many extended trips to India learning yoga in its homeland, and sought out the top living masters wherever we could.
A key to Ashtanga Yoga is parampara. Literally in a row, parampara denotes an embodied transmission of the method over time and through consistent practice with a teacher. It is through this daily contact with our teachers over long periods of time that we have honed our skills and our ability to transmit this method of yoga. We have gathered one of the finest teams of teachers who all show a deep commitment to practice over a long period of time. We maintain the highest standards for ourselves and all of the teachers at AYW. We truly live what we teach so that we can best serve you. Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide maintains its focus on bringing this method of Yoga to Fort Lauderdale, helping foster yogic practices and ideals to serve the local community. We offer daily classes, intensives, and workshops at our Fort Lauderdale locale for floridians to come learn with us, and for those global ashtangis who want to refine their practice at a beautiful sub-tropical beach destination.
Part of the teaching style, particularly in the mysore method includes the use of verbal cues, hands on assists, and visual demonstration to help you find the best way for you to practice the method. We consider it our honor to pass this method to you, and encourage your participation in the process. Please give your teacher feedback about your progress and ask questions if there is anything that you don’t understand. You are always welcome to observe a class before joining to see if this method is for you.

On your first private lesson we will discuss your goals and history of movement, fitness, and/or injury. You will be introduced the foundational techniques of the Ashtanga Yoga method including breathing, posture, and technqiues to focus the mind. Ashtanga Yoga utilizes a balanced sequence of postures to methodically explore a variety of movements to increase range of motion and build strength and flexibility. On the first class we will make an assessment that will determine the best approach to the practice to help meet your goals and abilities.
Greg Nardi has studied yoga and eastern healing arts extensively since 1996. Since 1999 he has studied at the KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, South India.
In 2004, Greg was authorized to teach by his guru, Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. In 2009, at the age of 94, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois passed away leaving behind a legacy that has touched countless lives around the world. Shortly after Guruji’s passing, Greg attended an authorization level 2 training course in Mysore with Sharath Jois. Greg is committed to honoring his teachers by spreading the ashtanga method, which has been such a blessing in his life.
He is an internationally renowned teacher of workshops in Yoga asana and philosophy. He and his husband Juan Carlos founded Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide a Yoga shala in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. in the United States.
He is an autodidact who perpetually studies Sanskrit chanting and indian philosophy. He counts Georg Feuerstein, Dr. M.A. Jayashree, Narasimha, and Vyass Houston amongst his influences in this field. He teaches yoga philosophy and Sanskrit mantra chanting as a faculty member of John Scott Yoga.
Greg’s view on yoga respects the indian roots of the Yoga tradition and the parampara method of transmission while making these traditions intelligible to the western practitioner. His style of teaching assists students in finding the approach to the practice that is most beneficial for them.
