Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
See what the student currently knows, see what their interests are and what they'd like to develop, and help carve out the path they want with them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a college student at New World School of the Arts and have been playing guitar feverishly for close to four years now. I have learned some methods of teaching from my own lessons and want to pass down that knowledge onto others.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally, students pay 25-40 dollars per lessons depending on how long the lessons go on for.
How did you get started teaching?
I have taught a few of my friends the basics of playing.
What types of students have you worked with?
Typically, I have worked with beginners only and know how to teach fundamental technique, but I also know how to teach more advanced material if needed.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Practice regularly! Even if it is only an hour a day. Many people get discouraged at the beginning because they aren't good at first, but not everyone is good at everything and it is a long learning process.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Where their interests lie. A private teacher can't help you have fun learning if you don't know what you are looking to learn.
