About this pro

My teaching approach: An accomplished performer, worship leader, and instructor, Katy has performed and taught extensively in 38 countries and 32 States. Music should be a joy. Chaining a student to an instrument is not effective and the curriculum must involve and inspire. Beyond pedagogy of standard music instruction, Katy is gifted at helping each student find his or her authentic voice within solid technique. My guitar lessons take place in: In the teacher's studioGuitar Techniques: Recording and Production, Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Performance, Vocal Accompaniment, Open tuning, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar

I don’t even know where to start. The most talented, brightest, knowledgeable, sweetest role model I’ve ever met. Katy has helped me beyond words. So kind, so patient. My voice got better and better with her lessons and I've learned SO much. If it’s music you’re looking for, Katy is your girl!!!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Each student presents unique strengths and challenges as we begin and progress. Each lesson is tailored to highlight what works well and strengthen weak areas.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Teaching is a passion for me, not a fallback.

I have been performing in public all around the world since I was 4 years old, and love it.

Teaching appeared as a passion for me when I was in Jr High and I began working with younger children at the church I attended. I have been teaching in some way, shape, or form ever since.

BA: Vocal Performance (Excelsia College, Sydney, Australia)

MFA: Interdisciplinary Arts (Goddard College, VT)

D.Min. Creative Arts  (Graduate Theological Foundation, IN)

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Voice: $70 per hour, $35 per half hour

Piano: $60 per hour, $30 per half hour

Guitar: $60 per hour, $30 per half hour

How did you get started teaching?

As an undergraduate student I began teaching Theatre for non-majors to fellow undergrads.

After graduating from college I traveled the world for about 15 years performing and conducting workshops.

Later, after deciding to stay in the US full-time and began my own studio.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages, all skill levels, and all genres have come away from our lessons with practical skills, and high energy.

From paid professional to total beginner, all levels and ages are excited to see breakthroughs in their work.
