Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will introduce myself, either through email or phone. During our first practice, I will assess my student by finding out if there is any pre-existing injuries or concerns. I will create a class that is most beneficial to the individual.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified yoga instructor registered through Yoga Alliance. I am also an Exercise and Sports Nutritionist, and CPR and AED certified. I teach multiple group classes in studios each week which keeps me current with yoga philosophy and anatomy.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 per person per hour, $90 for 2 people for private instruction. I usually do $125 for group instruction, depending on size.
How did you get started teaching?
I actually started teaching at a gym in downtown Orlando 2 years prior to receiving my certification. I learned so much by doing it on my own that when I became certified everything fell into place. This experience made me the teacher I am today and the training gave me the confidence to succeed in my passion.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels of students, from beginners to advanced, and all walks of life. I have taught gentle flow to 65+, power flow to 18+, and all levels flow to all ages. I appreciate my students for giving me the opportunity to guide them on an uplifting journey of strength and courage.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was given the opportunity to teach at a music and lifestyle festival. I led 40+ students through demonstration and adjustments to a live DJ set. I guided everyone into proper alignment while creating a comfortable atmosphere.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they are certified through Yoga Alliance (a U.S.-based non-profit membership trade and professional organization for yoga teachers). I would also be sure they have known experience and reputable sources.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You should definitely let your instructor know of any pre-existing injuries. We are here to help you, and letting us know what we should be careful of allows us to plan the right class for you.
