About

My teaching approach:

I have played musical instruments for eleven years and currently play six separate instruments and sing. I am a major part of my church's praise team, preforming every Sunday. I believe that it is important that students enjoy and look forward to lessons. I will work toward this goal while providing the tools the student needs to further their abilities and make the most out of their practice time.

My influences are:

I am inspired by American folk artists in all the different incarnations of the genre. From Dar Williams to Crosby Stills Nash and Young to the Carter family, the genre shows the basic and essential nature of music in our daily lives.

My guitar lessons take place in:

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Guitar lessons revolve around school schedule, happening just about any time classes don't. The best way to get an accurate schedule of availability is to call or email with a preferred day of the week.

Guitar Techniques:

Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Performance, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

If a student has songs in their repertoire, I like to hear a couple of their favorites to play. I also like to know what it is they would like to learn and what kind of music they would like to play. Knowing the student's goals shapes the direction of all future lessons, so it is vital to establish this in the first lesson.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

A guitar lesson is geared around the skills and goals of the student. Book work comes first to teach basic skills; songs will be introduced when the appropriate basic skills are acquired. Effort is made to work on topics that excite students. Practicing is encouraged, especially with digital guidance.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

The ideal guitar student is one who enjoys playing. Being able to enjoy the guitar will lead to excitement to learn new things and a willingness to play while not in lessons. A student who enjoys using their guitar is also more fun to be around in lessons.
