Ms. Catherine has had such a positive impact on my son’s cello playing abilities. She’s dedicated and always shows up on time. She takes her time to show him the correct techniques and makes sure his posture is correct.
She gives him tips on how to succeed for when he’s practicing or playing on his own.
He loves playing his cello now thanks to the confidence the lessons are providing.
    Thank you!!

Catherine has been wonderfully easy to work with from the beginning. She responded to my inquiry right away, has negotiated a time and for lessons that works very well, accommodated a traffic issue and was able to reschedule and most importantly she teaches to my level. I understand she teaches all ages, and is patient and knowledgeable. I had another instructor a few years ago and Catherine is hands down my fav!

    Frequently asked questions

Catherine has been teaching one-on-one lessons since she was in high school, which is over 16 years. She has since earned a Suzuki Violin Certificate and has studied with world renowned teachers such as Patinka Kopec, Larry Dutton, Karen Dreyfus, Burton Kaplan, and Pinchas Zukerman during her studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Her goal as a teacher is not only to carry on what her teachers bestowed, but also to provide a fun and positive experience for all of her students. Catherine uses the Suzuki method, in addition to other exercise books and method books, as well as hand written exercises tailored to the needs of each student. Songs from non-classical genres can also be picked out to work on in the lesson if requested. Each lesson may look differently depending on the students needs, whether it is focused on note reading, technique, musical phrasing, or performance / audition preparation. Catherine provides practice assignments at the end of each lesson which include videos, small exercises, and/or bullet points for each piece of music being worked on. The student is not required to but strongly encouraged to practice this assignment as often as possible between lessons. Listening to other recordings of the songs being practiced is also strongly encouraged.

Rates depend on location, duration, and length of lesson. I’d be happy to discuss an affordable rate.

The Manhattan School of Music career development office is where I got my first few students. From there, most of my students came from online marketing.

Ages 4 and up. I've also worked with autistic students.

I'm a fan of Lindsey Stirling and enjoy seeing her live performances. I also enjoy street performing many of her songs with choreography, as well as other pop and classical.
