About this pro

I offer guitar lessons for all ages, styles and skill levels. I know that looking for the right teacher can be stressful. You want to make sure you make the right decision and find someone who is experienced, prepared and really cares about their students. Something very unique about these lessons is I am trained not just on how to play the guitar but also how to teach. I know how to get you massive results in a very short amount of time. Guitar lessons are not one size fits all so the very first thing is we will go through your goals and figure out exactly what you want to get out of lessons. Based on this a personal plan will be tailored to you to ensure you are learning what you want and in the quickest time possible. Guitar lessons are supposed to be fun so the faster the progress the more fun and motivating it is. I will be there with you every step of the way to not only teach you but also train and mentor you through the process.

I absolutely love mapping out my student's goals and seeing the accomplish what they have been wanted to do for so long. It is so fulfilling to see students progress and become more confident in their playing. Being able to teach amazing people and make a difference in their lives is a dream job.

I like the flexibility of multiple class offerings and different kinds of classes that I can choose. Dylan is an awesome guitarist and teacher for anyone at any age or skill level.

Dylan is an awesome instructor! Does a great job of addressing your needs and goals. Also gives practical tips on how to grow as an instrumentalists and songwriter. Wish I had more time to take more lessons because they're very beneficial.

Taking lessons at Summit School of Guitar is one of my best decisions ever! Dylan is a master at teaching the instrument, regardless of skill level of the student. I was immediately comforted by his patience and encouragement (I'm a total newbie on the instrument). Thanks Dylan!!!

I have enjoyed taking lessons with Dylan! He is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable about the guitar. Just in a short amount of time I have grown so much in my skills as a guitarist and he has helped me achieve so many of my goals. He is also very patient and a great encourager. If you want to grow in playing the guitar I highly recommend Dylan!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The very first thing is I will talk to you about your goals and what you want to get out of lessons. Then I will make a step by step plan for you to ensure you are progressing as quickly as possible and are learning the things that you want to.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Growing up near Atlanta, Dylan has always had a passion for music. From a very young age, he fell in love with the guitar and found it to be something he wanted to pursue.

After high school, he made the decision to attend the prestigious Atlanta Institute of Music (AIM). While there, he had the opportunity to study all aspects of guitar and work with many great musicians including Bill Hart, Carl Culpepper and Nite Driscol.

Since graduating with honors in 2013, Dylan has worked as a studio session musician in Atlanta and has been teaching and performing full time. In early 2014, he signed with Renegade Recordings – an Atlanta-based independent record label – and released his first album in 2016.

Over the years, he has played with several bands ranging in many styles of music including rock, jazz, fusion and praise and worship. He is currently one of the guitarists for Grace Church, and also is the lead guitarist for his own band, and a few more.

Although Dylan loves performing, teaching is his biggest passion. Dylan has been teaching professionally for 8 years and is studying under one of the world's leading guitar teachers. He is trained in all genres and specializes in teaching rock, blues, and jazz. If you're looking for jazz, blues or rock guitar lessons Dylan is the person to go to.  Whatever level of guitar playing you want to reach Dylan knows just how to get you there.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How much a teacher's lessons cost is a great question but a more important question would be how much time will you waste on ineffective guitar lessons, books or trying to teach yourself if you do not learn from someone trained on how to teach. When it comes to guitar lessons you get what you pay for. If you are looking for cheap guitar lessons you will get poor results and waste a lot of time. If you receive quality guitar lessons you will receive quality results in a very short period of time.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with every type of student imaginable. Anywhere from 5-70 years old with musical tastes ranging from rock, metal, jazz, and blues.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

The first thing you need to ask a teacher is where they have been trained on how to teach, Unfortunately, most guitar teachers have not trained on how to teach which will leave you with ineffective lessons. Here is a great article on how to make sure you find the best teacher for you.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

They should first think about is what you want to accomplish with your lessons. Having goals is really important when learning how to play the guitar. If you are unsure of what goals you want to accomplish don't worry, just let me know and we can map out a specific plan tailored just for you.
