About
I believe in the power of music, not just as an art for expression but also as an art of discipline and creativity. I try to make each students lessons customized for them as a student (i.e. What they want to play and what level they want to achieve). I take the task of teaching any student seriously and really try to make every lesson an enjoyable experience.
I think it is fun to engage the student and try to instill some passion but when a parent/guardian says "Thank You" or "This has given my child more confidence" it is beyond worth it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1) I introduce myself and explain my background.
2) I like to ask the student what made them wanna play music.
3) Then ask what types of music/artists they enjoy.
4) Then also see what prior knowledge they have with the guitar.
5) Based on that knowledge: show them the parts and a simple melody or just work from where they are at in that moment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to a music education college in Chicago for a few years. While i was there i learned about the pedagogy of music ed. I have been playing guitar 17 years and teaching for 15. I have written and recorded my own music, as well as play in a band.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was going to school for education it seemed logical to try and teach guitar. I got lucky and started teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had some special needs students and have worked with a lot of older students as well.
