About
Founded in 1984 and based in Chicago, Specimen Guitar Repair Shop and the Chicago School of Guitar Making have been serving musicians in the area for over 20 years. They specialize in repairing stringed instruments and tube amplifiers, and have restored thousands of guitars and other instruments to date. In addition to their repair services, they offer custom-made guitars, amplifiers, and horn speakers. Specimen also operates the Chicago School of Guitar Making, offering year-round courses in instrument repair, design, and making. They've helped many students start their careers as luthiers, technicians, and craftspeople.
