About

Longevity. I've been teaching guitar full-time for 20 years. Most of my students stay with me for 4-5 years. Some I've been working with for 15 years.

I'm lucky that I get to teach guitar for a living. Many of my students have become close friends over the years.

    Frequently asked questions

My program revolves around creating muscle memory: ie. training your hands to move like guitar player hands.  We start with chords and chord transitions.  After 18 essential chords we start adding right hand rhythm patterns. The songs we use are merely skill building exercises.

I've been playing guitar for over 35 years and performed in various bands since I was 14 years old.  Teaching guitar has been my full-time profession for the past 20 years.  I teach practical guitar playing, not book/theory based.  My students have gone on to Berklee School of Music, Belmont University and UIC music departments.

I charge $70/hr and offer a package deal:  buy 10 get 12.  This is popular with my clients.  I currently have over 50 students in my practice.

I was working at Guitar Center in 1999 and started teaching people to whom I was selling guitars.  I couldn't recommend in good conscious a book or video to self learn.

All levels from just starting to touring pros.

Find a teacher with an established background with whom you find enjoyable.  I can't stress this enough!  Its a fun working relationship.
