Alyssa has been teaching violin lessons on and off since high school. She is a violin performance major at Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts, and is trained to be able to play many different styles and genres of music. Music is her passion and she looks forward to sharing mine with others!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Get the student excited about learning, and make it a fun experience, because not only does it make it a more enjoyable experience for the student, but for the teacher as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Working with my high school orchestra has given me some teaching experience, as well as being equiped at Berklee College of Music to be able to play so many genres of music. I am able to share what I know with lots of other people.

How did you get started teaching?
In my high school orchestra is where I first developed an interested in teaching because I would help out my classmates with the music we were learning.
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle school, high school and college level students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find some one that you get along with, that will give you a challenge, but make it enjoyable at the same time.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should think about the time they are willing to put into practicing for lessons, because for a teacher like myself, I am looking to push students to the very best level that I can, so I would like to make sure that we are all on the same page.
