What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take time to ask students about their experiences. I go over the basics of class and general philosophy of aikido with my expectations for conduct in class. And I always encourage them to ask me questions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 20 years of training and 15 years of teaching
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per class for single student. Special pricing for groups or families. No ne turned away for lack of money.
How did you get started teaching?
I began as an assistant with my current teachers As time went on, they encouraged me to teach more and more. I continue to pursue active training, that I may be a better teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages 6 and up. I also can teach many different physical and developmental abilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. A fundraiser march to end violence against women. It was amazing to participate in an event where thousands came out to support a local agency to end violence in our community.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions, observe a class, trust your own intuition.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are their any limitations I need to share? Am I able to commit to training? Does the teacher seem open? Is it fun?
