My teaching approach:
I am an avid student of guitar and am in constant search for more knowledge. I know fingerstyle guitar, pop and rock, and Classical. I have studied music theory so I can apply bits and pieces of all styles to my playing as well as my teaching. My students get an excited teacher who loves to learn and pass on knowledge to students. I will help you on your musical journey whichever style you choose. I am focused on aiding every one of my students to grow as a guitarist as well as an artist.
My influences are:
Bach, Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, Ben Harper, Billy McLaughlin just to name a very few. I like all music styles.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:
The first thing a student will learn in my studio is basic music notation and how to play the notes on the first three frets of the guitar. For advanced students the first lesson entails me watching you play a song or improvise so I can see how advanced your musical knowledge is.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
Beginner music lessons always involve learning how to read music. Students learn melodies and chords at the same time to keep things interesting. I start working on songs with the students as soon as they have the few chords they need. After they learn the basics they decide for themselves whether they would like to learn with standard notation, tablature, or by ear. Advanced students choose which style to focus on and I make a customized plan.
