Balanced Warrior MMA & Karate, LLC
About
The style of karate taught at Balanced Warrior MMA & Karate, LLC is called Tang Soo Do. Tang Soo Do was developed in Korea, and is the same martial art that is practiced by television and movie star Chuck Norris. Other martial arts taught include Hapkido, Kung Fu, Grappling, and kick boxing/boxing. All martial arts teach and require discipline, courtesy, physical and mental strength, and dedication. Martial arts were originated as systems of fighting and have evolved over the years into systems devoted to self-defense and self-improvement.
Tang Soo Do includes all the elements found in martial arts: blocks, punches, and other strikes with the hands; throws and flips; wrist and elbow locks; and all sorts of kicking moves.
The adult level class gives instruction in all these areas of martial arts. The student can expect to learn effective self-defense; improved coordination, flexibility, and stamina; and self-control and self-confidence. Attendance at classes is required to advance through the belt levels and maintain skill and timing in the self-defense and other physical movements.
The children’s classes teach all the techniques and stress listening skills, respect, and courtesy.
Grappling classes are also offered for children and adults. These classes cover what is known as no-gi submission jiu-jitsu, and the student will learn takedowns, chokes, joint locks and other movements on the ground, all performed in a safe environment.
Classical weapons training is available for upper level belts. These weapons include staff, dagger, sword, sai, nunchaku, and cane.
