Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I correspond via email, call, or text and inquire about their short term and long term goals.
From there, I created a lesson plan tailored to help them achieve their specific goals.
I also encourage students to record on their phone so they can see the improvement from where they started at the beginning of the journey.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked private security in downtown Raleigh, certified as an instructor with a local federation, later traveled to Nashville, TN for another certification, traveled to Drexel Hill, PA for a black belt test, and have belt tested for every Krav Maga level (Levels 1-5) prior to black belt.
Each Belt test was 4-5 hours, and each Instructor certification was either 3 days for 10hrs, or 7 days for 8hrs of non-stop training with the top Krav Maga instructors in the country.
My 1st Degree Black Belt test was 2 Days long with a total of 15hrs of testing.
I have taught for 7 years, and used Krav Maga in real world scenarios against armed and unarmed assailants.

How did you get started teaching?
I had several situations growing up where I wished I knew self defense, so I began looking at local self defense schools that are specialized in efficient and effective self defense. That search brought me to Krav Maga!
I started training 17hrs per week, took my first belt test 2mo after the start of my training, and then certified to teach the end of that same year.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a Kid's Program, Young Adult program, primarily Adults (ages 18-70), as well as Law Enforcement, Military (active and retired) and a seminar for a Local SWAT team.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently traveled to Virginia for a 3 day "Krav Maga Camp", where I trained 8hrs a day with former Israeli Special Forces, BJJ Specialists, Muay Thai Specialists, FMA specialists, and Law Enforcement.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they work with you! Krav Maga is designed to adapt with the times, and provide adaptations of techniques to be applicable to all ages, abilities, strengths, or disabilities as long as the adaptations don't violate the principles of Krav Maga.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to gain from training?
Strength, conditioning, mobility, agility, weight loss, muscle gain? Overcome the freeze reaction and access flight or fight? Reaction training?
Think of your short term and long term goals and communicate those!
