Hi! My name is Cason Day. I'm a guitarist living in New York City. I have been a guitar teacher for over seven years. My career thus far spans several albums and numerous live shows, including work in these genres:
I love guitar and I want to help others harness that passion and become the best guitar player they can be!
I pride my teaching approach in being not only technical, but most importantly: FUN. I believe the most important part of guitar is enjoying it, and having a great time learning. I teach my students practical, effective techniques in a way that keeps them excited about their progress/playing.
Cason was seriously the best guitar teacher I've ever had. He made our lessons really chill and non-threatening. He completely emphasized a lesson plan that was built around actually ENJOYING learning which is so different from what I've seen with other teachers on this site. I am definitely going to continue using Cason throughout my guitar journey. He seriously goes above and beyond the duties of your average teacher. Funny, honest, kind, and patient!! 5/5!!
I work one-on-one with each student to find the best process for their individual development/goals. Different exercises and techniques work differently with each student, and I am dedicated to finding the best ones in order to help them succeed.
In addition to being a session and live player, I have also been teaching for over seven years. As a native of Houston, I have several students in the Texas area. I have gotten to work with many producers and artists during that time, and use my experience to be the best teacher possible. I also am a composer, with one feature film, one short film, and two musicals to date. I use my composition experience to teach the music theory side of guitar, as well as offering tips on songwriting.
I have always been very passionate about guitar, and love helping others harness and develop their passion for it too.
I have worked with students of all ages, from beginner to intermediate level guitar.
Students should have some goals in mind. I always ask students their top three goals as a guitarist in order to determine the most effective structure of our lessons.
