Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with by chatting about your current level and goals. It's not an easy feat to learn a new instrament, so I try to create a program that encourages playing music that you love and that you'll want to practice from lesson to lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Musical theatre from the University of Miami and have worked in multiple theatres and bands around the country.
I play 10 instruments including guitar, ukulele, electric bass, piano, drums, and more I can tell you all about at a lesson.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally lessons are 1hr. to accomplish as much as possible, but I'm avalable to schedule half-hour sessions and 1.5hr sessions if needed!
$80/hour lesson; $50/half-hour lesson
How did you get started teaching?
When I played different gigs around the country for longer sit downs I would give lessons to school groups or locals who wanted to learn! Eventually I started teaching at elementary schools and privately on both coasts
What types of students have you worked with?
I love working with both beginners and seasoned musicians! Two very different styles of coaching but both rewarding in their own ways
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The relationship and rapport with a teacher can be as valuable as the skill level of the teacher. Some teachers are better at working with different learning styles, and some can shred the guitar like none other but teach in a specific way. I'd recommend seeing how you vibe with different people!
