Dear Student/Parent,
My name is Min Liu, and I am a professional musician and piano educator with both bachelor's and master's degrees in music education, earned from conservatories in China and Germany. I also enhanced my musical studies through the C.M.S. Program at The Juilliard School in New York City.
With over 15 years of piano teaching experience, I have taught students from ages 3 to 72, across various backgrounds and skill levels. I specialize in identifying each student’s unique learning style and tailoring lessons to help them reach their full potential—whether they’re beginners or preparing for advanced auditions.
Since relocating to the New York City area, I’m excited to offer high-quality lessons while I build my presence in the community. Lessons can be taught in both English and Chinese.
My teaching experience includes preparation for:
ABRSM and NYSSMA examinations
Middle school, high school, and pre-college auditions
College conservatory entrance exams
Adult learners interested in building foundational or professional-level piano skills
I’ve received multiple national awards in piano performance, including:
Xinghai Cup National Piano Competition
New Artist National Piano Competition
Shaanxi Province Young Pianist Performance Competition, among others.
As a performer, I’ve had the privilege of giving piano concerts in China, Germany, the U.S., Korea, Brazil, Japan, and Switzerland.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depends on the music goal of student, and the student's age, we will start with a free trial lesson, then target your own needs, using the right teaching materials/books to start our lessons.
We will have a plan and strategy to meet your short-term and long-term goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelor's and master's degree in Music Education. Earned my degree in China and Germany.
And currently, enroll in The Juilliard Schol C.M.S program to continuing my music education.
I have been teaching different ages and backgrounds of students for over 10 years.
Performed piano concert in multiple countries, such as China, Germany, the USA, Korea, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland.

How did you get started teaching?
Music is always my passion. When I was in high school, I started to become a piano teaching assistant for the studio, and very enjoy the process of helping others to improve their skills. From that time, I never stop teaching, even when I was studying abroad in Germany.
After graduating from Music school, depends on my living location, I accepted local students around me, after years of teaching experience, I developed a very strong teaching technique that I can work with almost everyone, and understand different personality need be taught different, each student has their own pace and process. I'm really happy to watch my students became better at music.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught students in China, Germany, USA. All types of backgrounds, different ages, from 3 - 72. including kids who start to learn music, teenagers who need preparing for their school auditions, to adult who has no formal training in music or someone willing to advance their piano skills.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't hesitate to ask around different teachers' teaching strategy, find someone who can work with your style. Especially for young children, Children often like a certain subject because they like the teacher.
Find someone professional, experienced, and caring. someone who knows what they are doing, have the right knowledge to lead you the right path and can work with you towards your music goal.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Why do you want to learn the piano, what's your personal or music goal? ( e.g. playing a song at friend wedding, audition for a pre-college music major, advance my piano skills, want to learn more about music and enjoy it )
2. Which area that I can help you the most? (e.g. music theory, piano play technical, understanding music in general)
