I am an award-winning author of music books, pianist, State licensed music educator and composer with over 30 years experience. I would love to teach you piano! I am an enthusiastic passionate educator who believes in the power of learning the joy of making music. I would like you to know that I am a state licensed middle school music teacher which gives me plenty of experience as a pedagogue.I have truckloads of enthusiasm and passion which I bring. Ivan is a creative and supportive teacher who helped me get past my own doubts about my ability to learn to play and that I could make and enjoy music. Ivan is extremely patient and knowledgeable. His mastery is evident in his ability to explain and demosntrate in very simple terms what most of us find very complicated and involved. Never rushed, never looks at the clock. Will wrap up a lesson when he finds a good stopping point and not before. I have worked with other instructors in the past, very good and masterful at their craft. Ivan is all that but also a great teacher who understands and lives not only the music, but is also a master teacher. I always can count on having at least one aha! moment with every lesson and always walk away with something new under my belt.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I love teaching music! I love witnessing my students grow into better musicians!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BFA in music compostiion from California Institute of the Arts, an MA in music composition from State University of New York at Stony Brook, an MA in Educational Management form the COllege of St Rose. I am a New York State certified music teacher, and have been a NYC public school music teacher for over 20 years.
